An arborist (a.k.a arboriculturalist or tree surgeon) is a professional in the field of maintenance and management of shade trees and even ornamentals. Work can include tree surgery and also care of shrubs, vines, and other perennial woody plants. Tree climbing is one of their activities in their chosen profession. Read on and check out some of the most common arborist climbing equipment.

An arborist engages in very large and complex trees, or ecological communities and their abiotic components in the context of the landscape ecosystem. These may need observing and treatment to ensure health, safe, and suitable to property owners or community standards. This work may include some or all of the following: planting; transplanting; pruning; structural support; preventing, or diagnosing and treating phytopathology or parasitism; preventing grazing or predation; installing lightning protection; and removing vegetation deemed as hazardous, an invasive species, a disease vector, or a weed.

Protecting trees is one of their work and to be able to that; an arborist must have the equipment to do it. Arborist climbing equipment usually consists of a rope climbing system which includes ropes and its accessories such as lockjock sport, clutch, positioned ascenders and descenders, climbing irons, full body harness, maillons, pulleys and swivels, strops and lanyards, throw bags and line, rope bags and kit bags, prussic and split tails, karabiners, cambium savers and accessories like hand gloves, and rope brush and cleaner.
