Why My Mother Likes Tailored Window Valances

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 | Standards | Comments Off

Mothers know best. I guess it’s really true. My mother bought new curtains for our windows immediately after the renovation of our bedroom. After a month, I saw another new set of curtains for our bedroom which she bought. Aside from that, she also bought curtains for the living room and kitchen. Did my mother found a new hobby? And that hobby is purchasing curtains every month? Decorating rooms serve as a leisure time for most moms, so I think that’s why she’s “addicted” to curtains. Her addiction in giving designs to the windows magnifies her passion for keeping our home beautiful.

Her taste of curtains was actually pretty and goes along with the wall colors but the ones placed in the kitchen, despite its beautiful design, makes the kitchen darker and a little gloomy and that’s the only problem. I tried looking at the mall for a substitute and found some window valances. Valances can be defined as mini-curtains because they do not cover the whole window. I bought a lavender double-layered valance with inverted pleats that exudes a neat tailored work. It also features beautiful bow and button detailing.

This window valence adds an elegant design in our home. It matches the color of our walls. It’s indeed a great alternative way of using curtains.

My Wife’s Bathroom Storage Solutions

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 | Standards | Comments Off

My wife is in the skincare business so we have all the products for our skin care. We almost have everything – from anti-aging products, body bar, body scrub, facial cleansers, moisturizers, shampoo, sun block, toners. She admits that she is a very vain person but what the heck! We both enjoy using all these products anyway, from bathing to all beauty regimes. She spends a long time in the bathroom. Many products equates to many bathroom spaces occupied and that is the downside of having so many body and beauty care products in the bathroom, not to mention the clutter it causes. Personally, I hate messy places, but because of a hectic schedule, we don’t have much time to devote in cleaning our bathroom.

Because I couldn’t stand the overflow of beauty products in the bathroom, I opt to buy something in a home depot store to look for the solution in the mess my wife created. I decided to buy a mirrored bathroom cabinet. It was the perfect bathroom storage solution for her since a normal bathroom rack couldn’t hold all of her things. It is large enough to house all of her beauty products and toiletries, with a little space left over for her hairdryer, and of course, my own stuff. The best part is that it comes with a sliding full length mirror which my wife really likes. It’s a good thing to have a neatly arranged beauty and body care products in the bathroom.

People mistakenly place anything into the garage – tools, ladders, boxes stuffed with used items, and old furniture. This mess causes trouble for the real tenant of your garage which is your car. Because of the overflow of piles, they couldn’t drive the car it to its right place in the garage. Excessive garage mess creates a terribly dirty looking place, and that scenario attracts pests such as cockroaches and rats. But with the release of James Bond movies, you can see how spying becomes high-end and technological. Goodbye with the disguise, hello to the real spy gadgets!

One of the most well-known spy gadgets is a hidden or spy camera. Hidden cameras nowadays are small in dimension and incorporated to such common things seen everyday. Because it’s so small, you wouldn’t notice it. Hidden cameras can be placed in exits signs, books or even in light bulbs. So indoors or outdoors, you can have a nice time spying with it. On the other hand, if you are annoyed of unwanted calls, and you don’t know who’s calling, a phone manager keep track on the number of the caller. Other gadgets have voice changing or scrambling features that you can use to avoid someone or to spy on someone by changing your natural voice so you wouldn’t be recognized. Binoculars are always present when it comes to spying and we all know how it works. Through binoculars, we can see long distances – zoom in the lenses to spy on other people from afar.

Just a friendly reminder: do not ever spy on people just to play pranks on them. Be cautious and careful, and use the gadgets only in the right circumstances.

Keep Up with the Trends, Visit Fashion Accessories Online

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 | Standards | Comments Off

I got married just recently, and one thing that I love with my wife is her cool fashion sense. At first I didn’t know where she got those fashionable items, or how she finds out about the trends in the fashion industry. She had it all – from fabulous clothes to fashion accessories. The only thing that I know is that she browses the internet just to look for fashion accessories online.

At first, I’m not used to it since I only surf the internet for social websites, sports news and to read online journals. But she always takes hours with just looking in the clothes and accessories! How’s that for a leisure time? Since we’re almost one year married, I eventually got used to her internet regime. Now, I accompany her in her fashion surfing through the internet. On the positive side, little by little those fashion accessories online gives me a lot of ideas about what I could give my wife in our first wedding anniversary, her birthdays, and other special occasions. Now I secretly browse for fashion accessories online to buy her the stuff she always wanted. She likes handbags from Kate Spade, shoes by Marc Jacobs, jewelry accessories from Tiffany and Co., and Ipanema flip flops. I know that these are her favorite stuff – just to name a few.

The brighter side of having the new trends in fashion accessories posted online makes life easier for people inclined to fashion. They have their up-to-date guide on everything, where to buy and the prices. It’s like a convenient way of knowing what’s in and what’s out.
